Fotodiásporas is a project that seeks to broaden understandings about forced cross-border migration due to the Colombian conflict. Fifteen Colombian men and women starting new lives in the United States produced photo stories reflecting on their experiences as migrants as part of this hybrid photovoice project. Based at the University of Massachusetts with funding from Humanity United, I supported and accompanied the project team which involved academic researchers, a photovoice facitliator and a psychotherapist, to design and deliver the project.

The Fotodiásporas book and exhibition can be seen online here.

“Not being able to express myself culturally in the language of this country makes it more tedious to communicate. So one tends to silence oneself, and not to complain.”
